Badger Balm for the Stocking

Badger Balm (one of my favorite brands thanks to their organic ingredients) has a fun new product out just in time for the holidays.  A new lip balm with a twist--one end has the tint, the other has shimmer, how festive!  Ingredients are quality and 94% certified organic.

ORGANIC SkinFare Ultimate Body Salve

Want some soothing organic nourishment for your skin that will take you right through fall and winter?  Check out this body salve from SkinFare.  I love balms and lotions that come in a stick like this, they are so portable and easy to whip out and apply, then slip right back in your bag.   When those fall and winter winds hit my face, I love to feed my skin some healthy moisture and I use coconut oil for this purpose all the time.

JUICE BEAUTY Organic Conditioning Lip Color

Have you heard that statistic that the average woman consumes, i.e. eats, several pounds of lipstick during her lifetime?  That sounds a little implausible to me, but here's the thing--even if you don't ingest the lipstick, you are consuming it through your skin. Remember the rule, if you wouldn't eat it, don't put it on your skin because your skin absorbs it even more readily than your digestive system (think birth control patch). And because most lipsticks on the market contain some scary and unacceptable ingredients including lead, and other toxic chemicals.

A Perfume Organic

Most of my readers already know that most perfume is bad news.  I love fragrance--from the plant.  Essential oils can be very soothing, invigorating, and pleasing, evoking mood and atmosphere.  Synthetic perfumes and fragrance, on the other hand, send me right into migraineville and with good reason, they are comprised of dangerous chemicals.

Should you give your Valentine perfume?

When I think perfume, I think instant headache.  I'm okay with essential oils, in fact I love essential oils, the fragrance that comes directly from the plant.  But most perfumes are synthetic and contain carcinogenic substances.  More and more, people are realizing that chemicals don't actually smell that great, and that they are dangerous.  When something can cause cancer, it doesn't matter how pretty the bottle is or which celebrity endorses it.  Toxic does not equal sexy.  For more on this, the EWG is a great source, check their website and this video, detailing the dangers of fragrance.
