ART Doing Good

PRINT AID NYC is a group of artists who came together to help New York City get back on its feet after the second worst hurricane the Atlantic coast has ever known.  One hundred percent of proceeds will go to the Mayor's Fund For Hurricane Relief which will then be dispersed for emergency supplies and restoration. 

These limited edition prints are super affordable at $30 each and they are beautiful.  Artists from New York City were asked to contribute based on the theme of Light.  This warms my heart.  I guess we need disasters to remind us that we are not separate.  Find out more HERE.

Tape Sculptures

Tape is an interesting commodity around our house, my son is completely fascinated by it and can go through an entire roll of packing tape in one sitting.  So I hide it.  It doesn't work, he inevitably finds it and  creates his own brand of artwork with mixed media and a heavy emphasis on tape including his own version of sculpture.  It's always been that way, I'm not sure quite what it's all about, but even at the store, he asks for tape.  I do indulge him sometimes, I love to see his creativity in action, but at $3-4 a roll, it adds up and I don't care for the waste. When I saw these tape sculptures by Mark Jenkins, I thought, maybe I should give in to this more often.

Kate Bush: 50 Words for SNOW

Kate Bush is one of my favorite musical artists ever and I've been waiting with for her latest effort, 50 WORDS FOR SNOW.  We haven't heard from Bush since 2005's Ariel and many of us have been eager to see what she would do next.  Just in time for the season, 50 Words does not disappoint, in fact, I haven't been this excited about new music in a long time.

Available on iTunes, be sure to purchase the whole album as one of the best songs (Misty) is not available separately and it's layered and lush and brilliant.

With songs about the mythical snow monster, aka Yeti, a love affair with a snowman, and the wonderment of snow,  Bush is up to her usual magic and I can't get enough, highly recommended.

Broccoli Tree House

Brock Davis couldn't build a real tree house for his son, so he created this.  Fabulous.
