Stanley Thermal Bottle and the Pumpkin Patch

Today we went to a pumpkin farm. Kids love this. I love it too, all the beautiful colors--the trees, the pumpkins, the gourds...just gorgeous. It was also really chilly. I knew it was going to be cold, so I brought along my Stanely Thermal Bottle. What a luxury! I got to have piping hot green tea in the middle of the pumpkin patch.

I have the .5qt classic Stanley thermal bottle, which is a lot more than it sounds like. At the pumpkin patch, I shared with a friend, drank plenty myself, and still had some left when I got home--still steaming hot about six hours later. They make bigger ones, but this is the perfect size to slip in a backpack. It's well made and sturdy and looks very cool. Stanley thermal bottles have a hard core quality that I love, as though they could be run over by a truck and still be fine.

The only thing I'm not crazy about is that the lid, which also doubles as a cup, is lined with plastic. Why not just stainless steel? The rest of the bottle is stainless, however, and it is the nicest one I've seen, so I'm willing to over look it, but I do hope they re-think that part of the design.

I plan to take mine Trick or Treating, filled with spicy hot apple cider. This is the kind of thing that will last forever and really comes in handy.
