Fabulous prAna Yoga Tops

prAna has fantastic yoga clothing that also works as great street and travel wear.  Here are two tops that are super comfortable, allow full mobility, and pack down small without getting wrinkled.  The fabric is fast drying and you could easily wash them in a hotel sink if need be. I think they look great with jeans and skirts with a little hoodie.

Check out the Abi Top in that dreamy Purple Pixel.  Isn't that gorgeous?  Pairs great with black pants or a black skirt and has a built in shelf bra.  Comfy soft recycled poly, and a beautiful watercolor pixel print make this top shine.

The Quinn Top has feminine lines, is really pretty around the neck, and comes in many colors and patterns.  It is made with recycled materials, is very soft, and has a shelf bra for support.

They say purple is the color of wisdom.  For me it is soothing and refreshing at the same time and I especially love it paired with calming blues.  Prana offers several fabrics with these and other mood enhancing colors and I don't think that's an accident.  I think they put a lot of effort into color and pattern--both tops featured here are almost mandala-like.

I love these tops so much I ordered a few on Amazon--they have incredible prices on prAna right now with tops as low as under ten bucks and dresses under twenty.  Time to stock up!  What brilliant inspiration for maintaining your yoga routine throughout the holidays.  You can find a bigger selection HERE on prAna's site.

Yoga for Kids

My five year old loves to do yoga.  We do it at home watching dvds and he uses one of my yoga mats.  He's so into it lately that I thought I'd look around for yoga stuff related to children and I found a couple of very cool things to get kids excited about yoga.  I love this PEACEFUL PIGGY YOGA book.   My son has been looking at my Sivinanda Yoga book copying poses and while that is great, this gives more doable poses and puts them across in a kid friendly sweet way.    I love that MacLean has made yoga so exciting to both boys and girls.  Ballerina's do it and so do cowboys and athletes.  She also explains the different ways we benefit from yoga such as improving flexibility and peace of mind.
Yoga Pretzels (Yoga Cards)
YOGA PRETZELS, from Barefoot Books is a wonderful must have tool to get kids interested in yoga and for those who already practice.   It's a deck of colorful over sized cards that have illustrations and steps to achieve poses as well as fun games, cute animals and a little fold out booklet with yoga-tips.  How fun to randomly pick a card and do the pose.  You can make a game out of it, pick one each day, use them as a fun treat.  The cards are easy to read and understand, visually fabulous, and would be perfect at home, or in the class room or yoga studio.

As for the mat, there are kids mats out there, but they're harder to find than adult mats.  Check out these cute yoga mats for kids from Yoga Direct.  It's much more fun for a child when they have their very won gear.  Wouldn't it be great to start off the new year with mommy and me yoga practice at home?

Manduka: Beautiful, Sexy, Eco Friendly.

Manduka has the most wonderful yoga gear I know of--it's sexy, uber functional and eco friendly.  It's not only very aesthetically pleasing, it's beautifully functional. Look at this gorgeous CLASSIC PRO PACKAGE.  I wasn't sure there would be that big of a difference between the regular eco friendly yoga mats I've been using (including Manduka's) and this Black Mat Pro, but boy is there.  You feel like you have a solid foundation under you.  It gives you extra comfort and it's just the right size.  This mat is guaranteed for life, so you don't have to worry about your investment.

The MatSak is also beautiful, fitting the Pro mat perfectly and easily, there's no struggling at all.  The color is a deep soothing sexy charcoal and the hardware is gunmetal and it has a convenient  handle on either end as well as the longer strap.  It has ventilation grommets and extra pockets for towels, cell phones, snacks, or whatever you want to put in there and the bag is so well made I seriously doubt you would ever need another one.  It's by far the nicest mat bag I've ever seen in terms of both function and looks.

This package also comes with the eQua Mat Towel which provides a slip resistant surface when placed over your mat.  It's super absorbent, butter soft and good looking with its contrast border stitching.

Bolsters don't come with this particular set, but I love their rectangular airCORE Bolster.  It's made from recycled content and cotton and has a removable machine washable cover.  There's a handle on the end and this bolster is designed to be considerably more lightweight than other bolsters of its size.

There is still time to get Manduka gear for a Christmas present through Amazon, or, treat yourself.  It's perfect timing to get you inspired for a new year filled with gratifying yoga practice.  Manduka is one of those rare companies on a mission to make the world healthier and more beautiful.  Free shipping through December on Manduka's website.  Go ahead and do it, you won't be disappointed.

meSheeky Yoga Skirt: From Studio to Street

Sometimes you want a little something to slip on over your yoga pants.  MeSheeky yoga skirts have got you covered after yoga class so you can hit the street without feeling self conscious.

MeSheeky is the brainchild of internationally renowned yoga instructor, Sarah Tomson Beyer, who designed the clothes with specific needs in mind.  They come in short and longer lengths and in several color options to compliment your personal style.  The fabric is a blend of eco friendly bamboo, cotton, modal and spandex and the skirts are cut for mobility so you could easily do your entire yoga class with the skirt on.

The Ava Skirt is my favorite, it's very soft, has a flattering, comfortable fit and works as a skirt on its own.  I think it's important to invest in cute workout clothes--it will make you want to work out!  And the Ava skirt works as a multifunctional wardrobe piece.  Check out meSheeky HERE.

Green Your Workout with NATURAL FITNESS

Natural Fitness premium eco-fitness products will green your fitness routine with sustainable non toxic gear.  Their products are free of common dangers such as lead, pthalates, PVC, and cadmium.  Instead, Natural Fitness utilizes natural and renewable fibers such as bamboo, hemp, natural rubber, and cork.  Check out this exercise ball.  It's non toxic and phthalate free and wonderful for increasing balance, mobility and core strength.  I love the unusual and pretty olive color.  It comes with a dvd, air pump, and as part of the Zero Impact Program, a tree is planted with each purchase.

I also like their colorful eco friendly yoga mats.  This moss/lavender natural rubber professional yoga mat is visually appealing but also non toxic, sustainable and renewable.  It's very comfortable, lightweight and does not have an odor.  Sometimes even natural yoga mats will have a bit of off-gassing in the beginning, but this one is good to go.  It's extra long to lenghthen your poses.

Being the visual creature that I am, I really appreciate the unusual colors Natural Fitness offers in their products.  If you love your gear, you will enjoy your activity more.  And with these tools available, there is no reason to buy the standard, often toxic equipment.  Natural Fitness has a big selection and reasonable prices, check them out HERE.
