Amber Lotus: New Eco Calendars for 2014

Are you still using paper calendars?  I am.  I need the visual on paper I can touch.  Amber Lotus makes fabulous calendars all on recycled paper with non toxic ink.  They have a ton of wonderful options with a theme of do-gooding, living healthy, and respecting the environment.  I like those sentiments and enjoy seeing this imagery around the house.  It also serves as inspiration.  How about the graphically bold and colorful Green Patriot Wall Calendar which reminds you to vote for no gmos, grow your own food, bike for transportation, etc.  I love this for the workplace, or school where it can educate while adding to the decor.

Simply Raw is a nice option for the kitchen, with gorgeous photos of healthy foods that look like master works of art. This is art--nature's art.  Recipes by raw food chef Matthew Kenney, like January's Frisee and Fennel Salad (with fresh basil and maple syrup) are an added bonus.  It's fresh and perfect to start the new year off on the right foot.

Meditation is a daily goal at our house, and these soothing images and inspiring quotes from the Mediation Wall Calendar is a good reminder.  You can use a calendar like this to chart your progress, as well as Amber Lotus engagement calendars.  Those also work great for recording your physical activity, meditation, and eating habits.  I struggle with migraines, and I'm always tracking my food intake for answers, but even if I weren't doing that, I still like the idea of charting my food intake, just to keep on track and make sure I'm eating enough nutrient dense food.

I like to mark my calendar for various things, like a green highlighter over the date for every day I drink my green juice.  Seeing a whole month of green dots gives me a sense of accomplishment.  You can do this with your meditation practice, your running or swimming, etc.  It's really nice to see it all add up at the end of the year.  These calendars would make a thoughtful holiday gift, find a ton of options HERE.

Amber Lotus Eco Friendly Calendars for 2013

Don't you love a calendar that inspires you?  Amer lotus makes some beautiful calendars, from recycled paper and soy ink, that will help keep you on track with your goals for the new year.  That, or they'll just look gorgeous hanging there.  Check out this Land Art Calendar featuring art by Richard Shilling.  I love the way it celebrates nature and impermanence.

Featuring quotes from the likes of Emerson and the Bhagavad Gita, their Meditation Calendar is a gentle reminder to find time for that silent space.  And if you need a day planner type calendar, Amber Lotus has some excellent themes along the same lines.  Even though everybody has tablets and computers and iPhones to keep track of things, these day planners are great for when you need to have a visual in front of you or for when you need to jot something down.

They are fabulous for keeping track of what you eat, for instance.  I love to have a record of what I've eaten and what healthy things I've done (meditation, walking, etc).  Their engagement calendars, like this one, have plenty of space for keeping track of all sorts of stuff and will inspire you along the way.

3 Eco Friendly Calendar Options for 2012

Need a calendar for 2012?  I use electronic calendars, but I still rely more on that paper calendar on the fridge.  My son and I love to set goals and then circle the dates for the days we acheived our goal.  For instance, every day I have a green juice, I highlight the date with a green highlighter.  For days we meditate, we circle that with a blue highlighter, and so forth.  It's fun to see all the green circles at the end of the month and gives you a sense of accomplishment.  It's nice to track your progress and it's fun to have a goal.  It could be anything, reading, running, doing a good deed, whatever you want to work on.

Check out this ENVIROMENTAL ART Calendar from Amber Lotus.  All of the Amber Lotus calendars are made from recycled paper and soy ink and they have a strong overall environmental policy (read here).  Environmental Art features  archives from greenmuseum.org, a non profit online gallery of environmental art.  Some are community based eco art installations which make a statement by incorporating objects from a clean-up, and some are more fleeting nature sculpture meant to be absorbed back into the environment.
WANDERLUST is another great option which features gorgeous photographs of Mother Nature and quotes from adventurers who embraced walking and the wild, like John Muir and Walt Whitman.  It's lovely inspiration to get out there and enjoy mother nature on foot and makes a beautiful presentation on the wall or fridge.
For Children, I love this LITTLE CRITTERS Calendar featuring artwork by Kate Endle.  These sweet images are perfect for little ones--my son loves having his own calendar and is fascinated by the passage of time.  He loves to anticipate holidays and special events and having a calendar puts it all into perspective for him.  Find this and many other eco friendly options HERE on the Amber Lotus website.
