Pacific Kale: I am Obsessed!

Pacific Kale just got a new look and it gives me an excuse to talk about them.  I'm totally obsessed with these kale chips!  The Glacier Peak especially, but any of them really.  Kale Chips are my favorite snack, I can't get enough.  I make my own, but can never put any aside, between myself and my son, the second they're ready, they are gone--consumed as fast as I can make them.

Buying them packaged accomplishes what I might be able to do on my own if I had any self control.  The concept of having a ready made leafy green snack that is this delicious---it's Fabulous!  Raw greens, but any time we want them, right out of the pantry (or backpack), ready to eat.  The trouble is they're too good and it's an expensive habit.  But when you consider the health benefits, I think it's worth it.  And when I'd rather have this than pretty much any other snack including chocolate chip cookies or chip-chips, etc, I'd say that's pretty great.   I'm particularly fond of Pacific Kale because they don't over-flavor their chips.  They are melt-in-your-mouth light and crispy and subtle, and....well they are just perfect.

Anyway, they've gone from bags to boxes (presumably to keep the leaves in tact) and they are even easier to scarf down---uh--munch on.  If you haven't tried them already, you must.  Find them HERE

Pacific Northwest Organic Kale Chips

Do you love Kale chips?  I've yet to meet anyone who didn't like them, including people who don't like "healthy food."  Even people who wouldn't go near kale, seem to love it in this form, and that includes children.  Kale chips are so satisfying, they don't make you feel full and gross the way regular chips do, and since they are cooked at very low heat, they are still raw and loaded with nutrients.

Pacific Northwest Kale Chips are the latest I've tried and they are fabulous.  One thing I noticed right away when opening the bag is how green they are.  They are much greener than other kale chips I've had, they're really pretty.  I don't know if it's the lemon juice, but it's a lovely presentation.  They come in three flavors, Stumptown Original--made with hazelnuts and has kick from cayenne pepper, Glacier Peak Greens--containing cilantro which pairs fabulously with the kale and also a little spicy with jalapeno peppers, and Cheezy Crunch--not spicy, made with cashews and probably my favorite, though anything with cilantro is right up there.  The best thing about these, besides how awesome they taste, is that they are completely organic.  They're also raw, gluten free, grain free, vegan and very low in calories.   How great to have a snack like this on hand!  If you're in a hurry, just pop one in your bag.  Because of their light weight, they are perfect for backpacking and hiking too.

Though they might get a little smashed, I think they are fantastic for travel.  In fact, I'm about to head over to their website to order a case for an upcoming trip.  Yes, they are a little spendy, but how much would you pay for a big healthy organic salad at the airport, for instance?  Or at your hotel?  First of all, it's almost impossible to find organic food on the go, and certainly at the airport, but if you do find it at your destination, you will pay.  Having snacks like these in hand is my insurance for being away from our healthy kitchen, and it's worth it.

Organic greens are a staple and necessity in our family diet, and I personally feel like I can barely live without them, I need greens daily.  This is a great way to make sure you will get your greens, and in one of the most delicious ways possible, it's a big bowl of organic kale, dehydrated to fit into a small bag, how fantastic.  They are even on sale right now, so it's the perfect time to try them out, and if you need a post-holiday gift for the healthy foodie in your life, these would be perfect--oh how I wish someone would give me stuff like this!  Also, what a perfect way to start the new year off on the right foot.  Find them HERE.

Chocolate and Kale?? YES!!

Two of my favorite things, chocolate and kale.....yet, somehow the thought of combining the two didn't sound like a great idea to me.  Boy was I wrong.  Holy Cow!  Alive & Radiant's Organic CHOCKALET CHIP Kale Krunch is Amazing.  I just tried these and I am on my way over to their website to buy more right now.  How have I never known about these before?  This is perfect for when you are craving chocolate but still want to eat healthy.

A whole bag only has just over 300 calories but it's filled with nutrition.  Perfect for travel (especially on the plane) and to get you through the holidays.  Seriously, you need these for the holidays.  When everyone else is consuming unhealthy junk food, you will have a bag of this with you for amunition against temptation, and you will feel energetic and great after eating this instead of sugar cookies.   Find them HERE

Trader Joe's has Kale Chips!!

Wooohooo!  I can't tell you how excited I was to see that Trader Joe's now has kale chips!  They are nacho flavored, and they're quite good.  And, they are $4 a bag, which is not bad for kale chips.  They're raw and the packaging will appeal to kids.  I wish they would make them Organic though, maybe if we all send an email they will consider it?  Still, major kudos to TJ's!!

Another thing they have now that I'd been waiting forever for is coconut oil, and it's organic, affordable and good.  I am the biggest fan of Trader Joes, bringing organic healthy food power the people.  Yay Trader Joe's!

Brad's Raw Kale Chips: VAMPIRE KILLER

Have you tried Brad's Raw Leafy Kale Chips yet?  Be prepared to get hooked.  I've been eating them non stop for days and can't get enough.  Out of the three flavors I've tried, Vampire Killer, Nasty Hot, and Naked, my preference is the Naked which is the perfect blend of savory crunch.  I make kale chips all the time at home and they never taste like this.  Not even close, I don't know how they do it, but they are super delicious and addictive.  What a great snack for kids!  They have that junk food like satisfaction factor without all those empty calories, and they don't leave you feeling yucky after eating a whole box (which we have done!).  Because they are cooked below 115 degrees, they are also packed with precious vitamins and enzymes.

The Garlicy VAMPIRE KILLER Raw Leafy Kale chips are so perfect for Halloween week, don't you think?  Great for parties and snacks.  They're a healthy alternative to all that junk out there and put your average chip to shame in terms of flavor.  Seriously, I'd rather have this than any chip I can think of.  Ingredients are wholesome and pure and include cashews, red peppers, lemon, and sunflower seeds. There's just one thing---they're not organic!  Come on Brad!!!  Make them organic, please?  I will be buying them by the case as soon as I see that organic seal.   People who are willing to pay extra for healthy food have the expectation that it will be organic.  Apart from this important oversight, they are perfect.  Especially fabulous for vegans and vegetarians who don't have as many snacky options as omnivores, but I can't imagine anyone not liking these, even folks who aren't big on the green stuff.  These would be of my favorite raw finds ever,  if they were organic.  Check them out HERE.
