As Autumn puts on it's orange and red fireworks, I start wanting chai, and slippers. It's time to gear up for cozy. Acorn has a new bootie out, the Moxie, and it's super warm and cute. Since I started wearing slippers, and not just socks, I don't get that cold-to-the-bone chill I used to. You know that level of cold where the only cure is a hot shower? You can help avoid that by keeping your feet warm.
Simple, I know, but I've spent many a winter in socks. Sixteen dollar wool socks broke that habit--I wanted to preserve them--now I can't go without slippers. The Moxies have a sole, so if you need to run to the mailbox or grab the paper, you can, and it comes up over the heel to protect the bootie. They can be worn folded down, or up (I like them up). These would be awesome for apres ski or snow play, they have a rustic, log cabin toasty appeal to them. Acorn is having a contest right now to win these HERE.
A great vegan alternative to the Moxie is the Chinchilla Mule. These are so cute! Perfect for slipping on and off, the pretty gray faux fur keeps your feet toasty. I love the heather gray wool uppers, and they also have a sole which makes them last a long time, give your feet support while the memory foam makes them ultra comfortable and gives your feet a welcome relief. They come in several colors and would make a wonderful holiday gift. I wear a size 8.5 and need a 9, or large in Acorns. Find them HERE.

KEEN Newport H2
I'm a huge fan of KEEN, and have been wearing them for what, about eight years now. They are one of my top favorite brands because one--I can't wear a pair out, and two--they're as cute as they are comfortable. Having said that, I have never tried their flagship shoe--the Newport Sandal. Honestly, I never thought they were KEEN's best looking style.
But, last year I got my son a pair and after seeing them on him every day they really started to grow on me, they really are very cute! This year I discovered that KEEN has a washable version--the leather free NEWPORT H2. You can just throw them in the wash, fabulous! How perfect for all the Summer activities like wading around in water, kayaking, frog catching, puddle stomping, etc.
They're perfect for in between weather too, when flip flops are too little, but a shoe is overkill. These are the perfect Summer hybrid of sandal-shoe-hiking boot. The soles are beefy and shock absorbing and you can hit the trails in these (light trails). They're versatility lends itself to travel. Really great Summer shoe, find it HERE. Remember to order up a half size with most KEEN shoes.

Vasque Bitterroot Hiking Boots
Will you be spending time on the trails this Summer? Backpacking? Hiking? Then you need to have a look at these gorgeous hiking boots that will have your feet feeling like they can move mountains. the Vasque BITTERROOT boot has a beautiful classic look and brawn to go with it. They make your feet feel secure, which is exactly what I need. Having broken both ankles in my life, I need a lot of support there and my ankles feel strong and also comfortable with lots of cushion, making them a dream come true for my ankles.
There is a reinforced toe and look at those beefy Vibram soles. There's a removable insole that can be replaced with your preferred insole such as an orthopedic insole, and the Gortex keeps your feet dry while remaining breathable. There is so much shock absorption and stability in these boots, I don't want to take them off.
Haven't had them out on super rough terrain yet, but walked a few miles and experienced no break in time, no blisters and supreme comfort. They make me feel powerful, as though I can go anywhere! I love the ruby laces, but they also come with a more low profile set. They're very good looking, but they mean business.
Of all your gear, footwear is among the most important, right up there with safety stuff. It's one area you should not skimp at all, unhappy feet can ruin a trip and improper footwear isn't safe. You don't want to snap an ankle because you don't have enough support, and you don't want to carry a heavy load without the proper boots on your feet. They come in both men's and women's sizing. Find them HERE.
