Fabulous Eco Friendly KIDISHES ** Giveaway **

I never liked those plastic kid cups and bowls, and dishes as they smell like plastic (gross), they tend to scratch easily, and they tip, not to mention they are not good for our planet or our bodies.

Kidishes are the perfect alternative to BPA leaching, earth un-friendly plastic.  They are virtually indestructible (see website for entertaining demos), a nice solid weight, and eco friendly to boot.  Recyclable and dishwasher safe, this Duralex tempered glass is iconic in France and featured in the Musee Des Arts Decoratifs.

The simple, clean-lined design will match any decor and the size is ideal for kid portions.  My son loves having his own personal dishes and I love that he is using safe dinnerware.  Find them HERE.

Microchipped Bees: Hopes of getting to the root of Colony Collapse Disorder.

I have a huge affection for bees and have been following Colony Collapse Disorder closely.  My feeling has always been that it stems from pesticide use and that the bees are the canaries in the coal mines.  There have been many different suspects such as mites, viruses and cellphones but no one has been able to commit definitively to a cause.  French researchers have found a way to attach tiny little microchips to bees in hopes to get to the bottom of this disaster.  Yaay France!

Organic hives have been somewhat immune from CCD, which is why, though the rest of my diet is vegan, I like to support organic honey.  We need bees.  Big time.  The French suspect a common pesticide called Fipronil.  Let's hope they get it figured out so we can protect our bee friends and ourselves.  Read more on Treehugger.

France is Green Gifting

Prompted by ecological and economic concerns, about 30% of the French are giving used gifts for Christmas. Good for them! I like this on so many different levels.

I'm okay with re-gifting as in--someone gives you something you can't use and you pass it on to someone you know will love it. But there is another form of this that I really love. It's when you give someone something you already have, something good that you love that you want to give for the meaning. It could be something someone has admired that you're ready to pass on or something sentimental.

I have only received a few of these my entire life, but it has just as much and maybe more meaning than something that was purchased in a store. Something infused with that person's energy and life. A few years ago, my mom gave me a bracelet that she'd had for many many years. It was one of the best things she ever gave me.

If you're low on money or time, don't be afraid to take a look at your stuff and gift something right from your home and heart. Read more HERE about how the French are setting this new trend.
